The businesses of the Saint-Gobain Group in India are housed under two large entities, Grindwell Norton Limited (GNO), a publicly traded company, and Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd. (SGI). Saint-Gobain currently holds 51.66% of the equity capital of GNO. Since January 2019, the Group has adopted a new organizational structure under its 'Transform & Grow' program. This new structure consists of five reporting units, with four regional businesses and a global High Performance Solutions unit. GNO is part of the High Performance Solutions unit of the Group. GNO’s businesses include: Abrasives, Silicon Carbide, Performance Ceramics & Refractories, Performance Plastics and ADFORS. INDEC (the captive India IT Development Centre for the Saint-Gobain Group globally) is also a part of GNO. GNO’s subsidiary, Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials Bhutan Pvt. Ltd., manufactures Silicon Carbide. GNO holds 70% of the equity of this Company. The CertainTeed business, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, also operates under GNO.

Our Businesses
GNO’s Abrasives Business, markets and manufactures a full range of Bonded Abrasives, Coated Abrasives (including Non-woven Abrasives), Thin Wheels and Superabrasives at its plants near Mumbai, Bangalore, Nagpur and Himachal Pradesh.
In 2018, Saint-Gobain's High Performance Solutions sector entered the Adhesives & Sealants business by acquiring Tekbond, a leading Adhesives & Sealants brand in Brazil. It has entered the industrial market for Adhesives & Sealants in India by creating a new business vertical within Grindwell Norton Limited.
The Performance Ceramics & Refractories (PCR) business offers complete solutions with expertise in design, engineering and manufacturing refractory systems for high temperature, ballistic and wear applications. The HPR plants are located in Bangalore and Halol (Gujarat). The Silicon Carbide business manufactures Silicon Carbide crude and grains at Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) and near Phuentsholing (Bhutan) and is a major supplier to all leading Refractory, Metallurgy and Abrasives manufacturers in India.
ADFORS is the world leader in geotextiles and glass fiber technical fabrics for applications in construction and industrial markets. It offers solutions based on a complete range of textile and coating technologies using fiberglass yarns, synthetic fibers, and natural fibers. Its products include glass fiber mesh for exterior wall insulation, wall coverings, joint tapes, glass mats for thermal insulation (HKO) for automotive and industrial application, staple fibers for filtration industry, insect screens, and road reinforcement grids. The Geotex business has a manufacturing facility in Bangalore and produces range of reinforcement products for roads, runways, coal mines, and quarries for the domestic and APAC market. The Performance Plastics business creates products with high-performance properties (temperatures, chemicals, friction, optical and weather/wear resistance) used to produce energy and reduce consumption, provide protection, improve comfort and sustain the environment. It produces and markets products through three businesses: Engineered Components, Composites and Life Sciences. The Performance Plastics business has a manufacturing facility in Bangalore.
GNO’s other businesses include: CertainTeed (subsidiary of Saint-Gobain) and INDEC (the captive India IT Development Centre for the Saint-Gobain Group globally).
CertainTeed is a business unit which offers world-class exterior building products. Since 2004, we have promoted innovative roofing and wall-cladding product applications in India. The unit’s portfolio stretches from individual houses, resorts and educational institutions to government buildings and mega townships across the country.
INDEC is the offshore IT Development Centre of the Saint-Gobain Group and is organized into INDEC Applications, INDEC Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity. While INDEC-APPS specializes in software application development and maintenance services (ADM), INDEC-INFRA & Cybersecurity monitors and manages key IT infrastructure assets of the Saint-Gobain Group across 70 countries. With a current workforce of 1200+ employees, its offices are based at three different locations in Mumbai.
