The
Project Engineering Group (PEG) of Grindwell
Norton Ltd (GNO) has the experience of executing
all the new, expansion and modernization Projects
of GNO at four Manufacturing locations namely Mumbai
(Mora), Bangalore, Tirupathi and Nagpur, as well as
the Saint-Gobain Group companies.
Since
its inception in the early seventies, PEG has grown
in skills and expertise and has several achievements
to its credit. The Division is headquartered at Bangalore
and mobilizes resources at any outstation location.

PEG can offer
services in the field of Design & Engineering, Planning,
Project Management, Construction and Supervision, Erection
& Commissioning. PEG is headed by Mr. M R Ramarathnam, General
Manager - Projects, who has over 25 years experience in
the above field. He leads a team of around 25 personnel
from the Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics
& Instrumentation, and Industrial Engineering fields.
Design &
Engineering
PEG can provide
the full spectrum of Design and technical back-up required
for any project. Most of the designs are carried out in-house
with the help of networked CAD setup based on Autocad -
Release 14.
Project Management
Along with the
design development, the planning and management of the entire
Project is carried out through meticulous detailing and
documentary back up, inclusive of budgets and time schedules.
Indigenously developed Project Management Software is utilized
for the timely and economical execution of the Projects.
PEG lays special emphasis on completing the project to specifications
within cost and time budgets.
PEG has it own
Project Purchase and Accounting team to support its activities.

Group Company Projects
PEG, in recent
years, has also been actively involved in a number of Saint
Gobain Projects, which have all been successfully commissioned.
Given below are the details of these projects :
Saint-Gobain Glass India Limited
§ Float Glass
Project
The state of the art 550 TPD Float line has been set up
at Sriperumbudur near Chennai and went on stream in June
2000. The project costed Rs.550 Crores. PEG was actively
involved along with the Flat Glass branch of Saint-Gobain
in constructing this greenfield project.
Besides playing a major role in construction of the Float
line, PEG was entrusted the responsibility of sourcing and
developing Raw Material options for the Float line - Silica
Sand, Dolomite, Limestone, etc. An in-house laboratory was
set up to evaluate the various options before finalisation.
PEG was also
entrusted the turnkey responsibility of designing and constructing
the Raw material processing plants of the Float line - Silica
Sand Processing Plant at Tada in Andhra Pradesh, and the
Dolomite processing plant at Siriperumbudur. Both these
plants are now fully operational.

Saint-Gobain Vetrotex India
§ Furnace Rebuild
project
PEG was actively involved along with the SaintGobain Vetrotex
International in rebuilding the glass fibre furnace and
expanding capacity in the plant.
PEG successfully
indegenized the manufacture of sophisticated Winders, used
for winding of glass fibres. Sixteen such machines have
been commissioned and are in regular use.

Saint-Gobain Sekurit India Limited
§ Sidelites'
Project
PEG was entrusted the responsibility of managing the above
project. The project was commissioned at Bhosari Pune and
is manufacturing Sidelites for the automobile industry.
In addition to above, PEG is actively involved in proposing
and implementing various technical improvements in the existing
plants at Bhosari and Chakan.
